The Class gathered in the Tulia park Saturday morning and watched the Annual Picnic Parade, enjoyed the Bar-B-Q, and visited with classmates and other friends. Fifty members and spouses met again for a dinner meeting in the Swisher Memorial Building that evening. Kinan Burke, Class President, welcomed class mates and spouses. Carol Adcock selected a word from Mark Twain "thanks" to express appreciation to others for helping with the reunion. She also gave an inspirational eulogy for our missing (silent) members which include Wayne Potter, Yvonne Sammon, Claudie Jackson, Etta Sue (Simpson) Melon, Peggy (Reid) Brock, Sandra (Pearson) Russ, Bob Berry, Vasco Smith, Tim Timmons, Ivars Galias, Kerry Henthorn, and Hubert Schulte. This was the first class reunion that Bobby Nipper had attended, and he came from Gainesville, FL. James and Glenna were recognized as the couple who have been married the longest--46 years.
Dr. Jim Wallace, better known as Dr. Penguin" , presented a program on his experience working as a scientist in Antarctica. He worked on a weather project there for six months and shared interesting information relating to that project. His slides really SHOW AND TELL about the animal life, scientific, ships, planes, and the beauty of the vast continent. Presently he presents programs to school groups grades 1-6 across the state.
Frances Hinkle was in charge of assembling the class booklet. Each member present received one of these.
The next reunion is scheduled for 2006, the BIG 50th!
